Over 30 years ago, Gary Wahlstedt set out to create high-quality, affordable homes that embraced their natural environment.
Having called Moonta home for the past 45 years, Gary’s connection to the Yorke Peninsula runs deep, and his love for the region is reflected in every home we build.
What started as a small, family-run business, quickly earned a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship.

Gary Wahlstedt Managing Director
With a lifelong passion for building, Gary founded Wahlstedt Quality Homes on the belief that every home should be crafted with care, integrity, and genuine pride. What started from a love of creating things, even as a child—has grown into decades of experience and hundreds of homes built across South Australia. For Gary, the industry never gets old. Each project brings something new, and he still finds joy in seeing a home take shape through every stage of construction.
Gary is proud to lead a team of dedicated people who share his values and commitment to quality. It’s never been about being the biggest builder in SA, it’s about doing things properly and treating each build as if it were your own, which is exactly what Gary and his team deliver. When he's not on site, you’ll often find him watching his kids play sport, out fishing or camping with loved ones, and soaking up the simple, meaningful moments with great friends and family.

We are very happy with our Wahlstedt home. We were not living in South Australia at the time that our home in Port Broughton was built but found that the staff and supervisors as well as builders were super-efficient and always able to be contacted if we had any queries or needed any matter followed up. The time frame for the build was extremely good. Our house was (and still is) one of the quickest to be built in our street which is all new home builds. That did not mean that quality was lost! The quality of the build was excellent. We had only a few minor fixes to be undertaken within the defects period and have not after nearly two years since completion found any further issues. We are very proud to say our home was built by Moonta-based Wahlstedt Quality Homes and would recommend you to complete your build with Wahlstedt. You will not be disappointed!
Our build with Wahlstedt Quality Homes went completely to plan. The entire process, from registration of interest until key handover, was flawless, and very easy to navigate as a consumer. Our site manager Josh always made us feel like we were his only clients. Every detail was covered, all queries answered, we were kept updated throughout the entire process. The actual build is expert and quality. We were fortunate to have chosen WQH to build our forever retirement home, and grateful for the professionalism and attention to detail of their team.

Our experience with Wahlstedt Quality Homes has been exceptional! When we started the process Covid-19 hit SA and we all know about the challenges that went with that, but credit to the team at Wahlstedt Quality Homes they somehow made the process enjoyable. During the design stages the team was always contactable and if not, they returned calls at all times. The build process was beyond anything we had previously experienced whilst building many homes over the years. We were able to work closely with all the trades throughout the build process and had one on one contact with our building supervisor at all times. The end result was a Quality built home, built by quality trade teams and managed by a team of exceptional people at Wahlstedt Quality Homes.
